Inspired by the mysteries of the environment, 2005 will see two new works influenced by the forces of nature. On 12th March The Fifth Continent (A Gift from the Sea) will get its World Première at London's Southwark Cathedral, performed by the Chapel Choir of Selwyn College / Onyx Brass conducted by Stephen Layton:


Tsunami  for solo organ was premiered by Thomas Hewitt Jones in Canterbury Cathedral on 12th February 


The English Sinfonia with soloist Janice Graham gave three performances of the Violin Concerto in February


The Bournemouth Symphony orchestra will perform "Orchestra on Parade at the Lighthouse in Poole on April 9th

A new organ work entitled "Improvisation Games" will be recorded by David Titterington n the spring of 2005.

Following the success of The Three Little Pigs in Switzerland with the Basle Symphony Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra will introduce the work to the UK at the Royal Festival Hall on 15th May 

      


The Galliard Ensemble continues to champion the Comedy for Five Winds & the  Westerly  Winds with numerous performances nation wide

The Academy of Saint Martins in the Field Ensemble toured the string octet  Deviations in the USA in February performing it in Houston & Connecticut.


The Philharmonia Orchestra with conductor   Vassilis Christopoulos will open their concert at the Athens Festival with "Bells Up" from the Jubilee Dances in July


French harmonica virtuoso Yves Laborie with pianist Genevieve Ibanez recently recorded "Propositions" in a new version for harmonic and piano on a CD that includes works for harmonica by Vaughan Williams & Gordon Jacob.


Ralph Hughes conducted the Sacramento Master Singers in four performances of the Magnificat Sacramento, California, USA in December

   2004  

The Belgrade Strings performed the Violin Concerto and Sinfonia for Strings in the Belgrade City Hall on 19th May


Spiders was set as one of the set pieces at the 53rd ARD International Music Competition to be held in Munich, Germany in September

The Three Little Pigs  on a text of Roald Dahl, was given its World Première on 19th March 2004 by the Basle Symphony Orchestra conducted by Howard Griffiths. 


  • It was released on CD by Universal in time for the Première in Basle. 


In the run up to Christmas the London Philharmonic Orchestra's recording of  Little Red Riding Hood was played across the USA  to shoppers in  America's leading shopping malls!  

As artistic director Paul lead the PLG's annual Composers Symposium held at the South Bank Centre London on January  10th-11th 2004.

Harpist Catrin Finch performed Bugs for solo harp for The New Orleans Chapter of the American Harp Society, in the  Freda Lupin Memorial Hall in November:

   2003  

2003 saw many performances of Paul's solo harp music including the world premiere of "Bugs" by Caterin Finch at the Royal Academy of Music Harp Showcase in November. Numerous performances of Spiders were given in many different countries including Austria, Belgium, Holland & North America, In the U.K. several leading harpist have featured it in their recitals including Alison Nicholls, Sally Pryce, and it was also featured by the Royal Opera House Soloist in their concert at the Floral Hall, Covent Garden.


The Millennium Mass was given its Japanese Premiere in Yokohama, 26th November

   2002  

Little Red Riding Hood continued to do the rounds as it  entered the second decade of its life: in its original orchestral version, the Ulster Orchestra gave the work its Irish unveiling on November 10th in Belfast' Waterfront Hall, while on the other side of the planet, the Manila Youth Orchestra has brought the work back to Filipino spectators at Manila's Shangri-La Plaza Mall on December 2nd. Paul Pellay's wind band transcription of the work has also been making headway, with performances in Maidstone (Nov. 10th) and Sheffield (Nov. 21st).

   2001  

 

Paul attended the USA premiere of the "Millennium Mass" in Rhode Island on May 21 with the Chorus of Westerly and the Boston Festival Orchestra. It also opened the 2001 Three Choirs Festival in Hereford Cathedral in August, sung by the combined choirs of Gloucester, Worcester & Hereford Cathedrals. The combined choirs of Winchester, Chichester & Salisbury Cathedrals also performed it at the Southern Cathedrals Festival on 21 July in Salisbury Cathedral.


The String Quartet was taken up by the Schidlof Quartet and the Bochmann Quartet. They have given several performances and both have performed it in Germany.


Yugoslavian violist Dejan Mladjenovic brought The Tides of Mananan to the Wigmore Hall for his recital in December.


Chromascope was performed in Lieska, Finland as part of Lieska Brass Week. The Töölö Brass was conducted by Tom Bildo.



Within the space of a week, the Magnificat was heard in three different countries: on November 10th in Maidstone, with the Maidstone Choral Union; in Davis, California, U.S.A., with the Davis Chorale on November 11th; and in Linkopping, Sweden, with the Linkopping University Choir under Hans Lundgren on November 17th (the work's Swedish premiere). More recently, a further performance took place nearer home courtesy of the Lewisham Choral Society on December 15th.

     The Toulouse Chamber Orchestra performed the "Piccola Sinfonia" in October  2001
